How many of us are seeking enlightenment? It would seem to
be the main goal of the spiritual seeker!
But; there is one snag in all this searching, Nearly everyone
involved wants to be personally enlightened, suddenly have the big picture, the bliss, all the
wealth, etc open up to them. No more suffering, pain, crook bodies etc. Sounds like a really huge
wanting doesn’t it? And there is even a bigger snag there is
absolutely NO SUCH THING as personal enlightenment or awakening!!!, sorry to bust your dreams
folks but any such awakening is at the expense of the individual perspective. In other words the
only thing that can change is the perspective of consciousness.
You or I the individual, ceases to exist and there is the entire world within. So all that
suffering is still here, except it is seen for what it is, the suffering and pain of all mankind,
all life forms and now the poor planet earth. It is realised that it cannot be escaped from, the desire
to escape has disappeared, the desire for a more comfortable life free from pain, suffering, and
eternal orgiastic bliss has disappeared. The ONE rests and all this is happening in the heart.
This is unselfish, there is the realisation that one doesn’t move ever, one is here for all
mankind and the planet.
This is equivalent to the Buddhist idea of the Bodhisattva who passes up the opportunity to go to the
eternal nirvana and keeps returning until all being is free from suffering. This is total
surrender and selflessness, only here is peace and all knowing.
How many are prepared for this? How many wish to keep being hypnotized by the mind replaying all
it's horror stories as their own. Trying to escape to a better world?
How many go to Satsang, or go from teacher to teacher, or meditation retreats trying to get a
better "good" or get the "eternal good", having marvelous "awakening" experiences, wanting to
surrender, etc., only to find it never happens and wallow in the misery this greedy wanting
creates? This ends up as a nasty game of playing who is better than whom on a subtle spiritual
level which is extremely hard to see and escape from. A special kind of spiritual meanness arises,
with hearts closed on the inside while pretending to be so open on the outside. Yuk!
With many people, it is as if there is some kind of short circuit in the brain which prevents
seeing all this, which prevents learning by experience as we did when we were children, where we
learned pain hurts and learned not repeat the activity that caused it, but as adults we seem to
have forgotten how to learn the lesson and repeat the activity causing pain over and over again..
Surrender cannot be done, it happens; one sees that one’s personal life is over; there is nothing
more to do, the rest is up to God, it is handed over- a great relaxation ..." thank god for this"
one declares from the roof tops.
Simplicity is the key, forget trying to get somewhere, just sit back, relax and see that you are
the one consciousness which includes ALL pain and suffering, ALL humanity, ALL love, which are
indeed inside in you. You do not move, you feel it on behalf of every being on the planet. This is
true compassion. From here the apparent individual life form is directed by god to true selfless
action which may indeed be of help to the world.
Under all this is the calm silent good, the true bliss, it has no feeling in it, it doesn’t rise
up and engage the feelings and emotions in the world.
The world at this time seems to be in the grip of a kind of evil energy. Trying to escape from it
it makes it worse. Watch and see what is going on around you; madness and evil intent.
Almost everyone is trying to escape. This is the evil itself. Relaxing and including it all
inside, feeling it and being the whole is all that you can do. If god moves the body to some
action it will follow in the relaxation it will be silent and good. Even if the body is moved to
be in an uncomfortable environment it will be good. All it takes is the moving from the chair of
thinking from a personal perspective to the chair of the universal perspective. One instant is all
it takes, and then there is no returning , so beware!
